FCI Environmental is pleased to announce the introduction of PetroSentry, a system that combines the revolutionary PetroSense DHP probe with a variety of loggers and communication devices to provide the user with a state-of-the-art in situ hydrocarbon monitoring system.
For almost 20 years, FCI Environmental’s PetroSense probes have been the standard for above ground (AST) and underground (UST) storage tank hydrocarbon leak monitoring around the world. These probes have proven themselves from the deserts of the Middle East to the North Slope of Alaska.
In recent years, the PetroSense hydrocarbon monitoring systems have become the technology of choice for in situ monitoring of process water, produced water and waste water applications. In industrial installations, on shipboard, and in municipal installations, they have the ability to:
- detect and quantify petroleum hydrocarbons presence in both vapor and dissolved form,
- remotely access and control the system and its settings, including alarm levels and sample timing,
- operate for extended periods without operator attention
- interface with most commercial loggers, PLCs and samplers.
And now, with our new PetroSenseNet system, you can access, monitor and control your system via the internet. Whether you have one, 50, 100 or 1000 sites, you can display and control them from your own customized web site.
PetroSenseNet takes the concept of continuous monitoring to a new level. It is ideal for small and large installations alike. It is perfect for environmental, as well as industrial monitoring applications.
The system is capable of reporting measurements and results routinely, as well as sending out signal alarms to managers and technicians when a hydrocarbon intrusion is detected. Now, you can notify everyone who needs to know, no matter where they are, of any hydrocarbon intrusion or incident almost instantly. With this real-time information, managers have the opportunity to deal with any hydrocarbon issues before they impact process-critical, or environmentally sensitive, areas.
The heart of PetroSentry is the PetroSense DHP probe. The DHP is available with SDI-12 or RS-485 outputs. The DHP-485 can be configured with zero to five volts or four to 20mA output. The probes detect and quantify petroleum hydrocarbons (C6 or greater) both in the form of vapor and dissolved in water. (There is no response to methane or other naturally occurring hydrocarbons). New incidents can be detected even in the presence of old contamination.
The DHP probes have been certified by third party Ken Wilcox Associates (www.kwaleak.com). Underwriters Laboratories has performed UL, CUL and KEMA ia certifications for use of the DHP in hazardous locations. The DHP and its analog counterpart are listed in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) List of Leak Detection Evaluations for Underground Storage Tank Systems (www.epa.gov/OUST/pubs/index.htm) and the State of California List of Leak Detection Equipment and Methods for Underground Storage Tanks, LG 113-12 (www.swrcb.ca.gov/cwphome/ust/lg113/lg113.htm). The DHP has also been specified in Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Approval File No. EQ-398 and is approved as a leak detection device in areas that have been previously contaminated.
Typical applications for PetroSentry are hydrocarbon breakthrough monitoring, leak detection at aboveground and underground storage tank sites and pipelines, as well as monitoring, remediation , wastewater, process water , storm water, aquifers, rivers and harbors.
